This course is designed as a two term course to provide additional support in concepts of English and British Literature. The course is a chronological survey of British literature including nonfiction, short stories, novels, poetry, and drama. Literature study will focus on reading comprehension and an intense review of literary terminology. Composition instruction, based on the process approach, provides structured and guided practice in writing for a variety of purposes, including a research paper. Development and reinforcement of fundamental communication and grammar skills are emphasized, along with intense reviews of capitalization, punctuation, agreement, sentence structure, and sentence effectiveness. Also included in the course are vocabulary development, library
experience, and extensive work on study skills.
