Our arts programs aim to give all students the opportunity to be involved in culturally enriching activities. Scroll down to learn more about our band, choir, drama, and fine/digital arts programs.
Band at Peoria Notre Dame is a place for every student. Our ensemble is made up of dedicated musicians, many of whom are also National Merit Scholars, award-winning athletes, ILMEA qualifiers/winners, and participants in other PND clubs and activities. The PND Band Program includes marching, pep, and concert ensembles, and most band students participate in all three. Marching band is traditionally held in the fall with a full show performed at the halftime of every home football game. Our pep band plays in the stands for different sporting events throughout the year and also has opportunities to march in Peoria parades. Concert band exposes students to a wide variety of classical and contemporary ensemble works that are both challenging and enjoyable to play.
PND has two choral ensembles, Concert Choir and Scattered!, our vocal jazz and chamber ensemble. The choirs meet during Advisory and after school. The schedule and other details are on the PND Choirs website.
All PND students may enroll in Concert Choir, which is a class for a grade. Scattered! is an auditioned ensemble consisting of selected members of Concert Choir. Both ensembles sing various musical styles, and when possible, perform in two school concerts per year and several community/parish events.
If you are interested in participating in PND Choirs, please contact Miss Mara McClintock at m.mcclintock@pndhs.org
The PND Theater Program offers students the opportunity to showcase their talents onstage and backstage. From constructing sets to vocal practices to becoming a character, students use their creativity to make diverse stories come to life.
In usual years, the PND Theater Program sponsors two main events: the play and the musical. Students also participate in the Illinois High School Theater Festival every year where they actively engage in workshops from music, to dance, to stage combat, costuming, and more. During COVID-19 season, the PND Theater Program has displayed the first Virtual Talent Show and has students participating in workshops from Shakespeare to improvisation and more.
We also have our own site with information at this link.
The PND Art Department has a variety of courses in both the traditional fine arts as well as digital arts. The PND art program is excited to now offer AP Studio Art in all three disciplines: Drawing, 2-D, and 3-D. We highly encourage the students to compete in local as well as national art competitions throughout the year. Our students have won many awards on both the local and national level. Each May the Art Department hosts our annual Senior Art Show. The show has grown almost every year displaying works of over thirty of our PND art students. We pride our department on creating a respectful and inclusive environment where all our students’ creativity and artistic abilities can thrive.
