The course focuses on the reading and writing of short stories. Students are expected to write a number of short stories of varying length (5 to 15 pages). Emphasis is on identifying, comparing, and analyzing the various components identified in selected stories. Instruction in student writing emphasizes the understanding of what goes into the production of a contemporary mainstream short story.
