Students are exploring the fascinating world of Gestalt theory in Mr. Mulcahey’s Psychology class! In the early 20th Century, German psychologists introduced the concept that people inherently seek meaning and order in their surroundings. From spotting animal shapes in clouds to identifying star constellations, our minds naturally gravitate towards patterns.
In the extra credit project during the Sensation and Perception unit, students are divided into teams, and take a 100-piece jigsaw puzzle without any hints about its final image or shape, teams compete to understand the meaning by putting the puzzle together.
