Warm up with this sweet story about two of our generous students! Last summer, Abigail (PND ’26) and Lillian Chaddock (PND ’29) volunteered for the “iCan Bike” program sponsored by Easterseals. The two sisters spent a week paired with a developmentally challenged child to teach him how to ride a bike.
“It’s such a rewarding experience,” said Lillian. “At the beginning of the week, the kids are so scared. But by the end of the week, they are biking pretty fast. On the last day at graduation, most of the children race their parents and siblings. One little boy was so happy because he can now go on rides with his dad and brother.”
“It’s the best environment these kids could learn in,” said Abigail. “Everyone is so patient and encouraging. And at the end of the week, there is a ceremony. The parents and the volunteers get so emotional. It’s like we have opened up a new world for them.”
We are so proud of Abigail and Lillian for volunteering their time to help Easterseals patients learn a new skill that could be beneficial to their lives.
