New Staff Spotlight: Señora Vidal & Señora Robles-Lugo

New Staff Spotlight! 📣☘ Please join us in welcoming our two new Spanish teachers: Señora Marta Vidal (pictured on left) and Señora Lourdes Robles-Lugo (pictured on right).
✨ Born and raised in Colombia, South America, Mrs. Vidal earned her degree in Foreign Language Education, with a focus on English and French, from the University of Cauca. She moved to Peoria in 1996 and later earned her master’s degree from Illinois State University. She began her teaching career in Peoria Public Schools at Rolling Acres and, three years later, continued her work at Richwoods High School. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in World Languages.
Mrs. Vidal is passionate about curriculum and instruction, sharing her beloved Colombian culture, traditions, and language, and making a positive impact in her community. She believes that teaching is a journey where connections happen and new perspectives become real.
Outside of school, Mrs. Vidal loves spending time with her family and her dachshund, Benji, who keeps her company during much of her free time. She also believes that life with Benji and a good cup of Colombian coffee can turn an ordinary day into a wonderful experience. She is excited to bring her love of language, culture, and connection to the PND community.
✨ Mrs. Robles-Lugo began teaching Spanish ten years ago and has enjoyed working with students ever since. What drew her to teaching Spanish was the chance to help students learn both the language and Hispanic culture, something that will be utilized in daily lives and future job opportunities. She enjoys helping others whenever she has the opportunity, so teaching is especially rewarding. Mrs. Robles-Lugo looks forward to strengthening her beliefs and connection with God at PND. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Robles-Lugo enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, photography, going out of town to explore new places, visiting friends/family or spending the day relaxing at home, watching TV shows, and listening to music.
