Spotlight on one of our 2022 graduates, Ella Benjamin! Ella is an undergraduate student at the University of Tennessee, and plans to pursue a career in dentistry. Over the Christmas break, Ella spent 11 days in Costa Rica providing vital dental care to local residents. Ella, along with 19 other students in the program, provided general check-ups, cleanings, extractions, and fillings.
“Their access to dental care is very limited,” said Ella. “They need it, and they want it very badly. So there was a line of people waiting outside our door every morning. Though their pain tolerance is very high and quite impressive, it was awesome to see how happy the people were after their treatments. I would do it again if I had the opportunity.
