Biomedical Innovations class performed a ligation reaction

Last week, the Biomedical Innovations class performed a ligation reaction to introduce a Kanamycin (antibiotic) resistance gene into a plasmid vector to create a new recombinant protein. They will check the results of ligation with gel electrophoresis and then express (grow) this plasmid inside of bacteria and check transformation efficiency to see how many bacteria survive being grown in an antibiotic rich-medium. Such awesome hands-on experience with labs!
