The course is a continuation of the study of Latin beginning with a review of the advanced level and leading to the level of accomplishment. Instruction focuses on students being able to learn the advanced devices and rhythms common to Latin poetry that are also applicable to English prose. Students are expected to read from Virgil’s Aeneid, and from other Latin poets such as Ovid, to write research reports based on Classic mythology, to learn the Greek alphabet and basic Greek vocabulary with its many English derivatives. This course will help students prepare for the AP Latin exam.

Prerequisites

A grade of C+ or higher in 465 Latin III (H).
