The course introduces students to life sciences. Students learn about the structure of biological molecules, how energy and matter move through biological systems, cellular structures and functions, cell reproduction, genetics, natural selection and evolution, and ecological concepts. As they learn content, students develop questions, create models, interpret data, plan investigations, argue from evidence, and formulate explanations. Laboratory experiences, project-based learning, and analysis of data are supplemented by class discussion and lecture.

Prerequisites

Recommendation based on junior high documentation. Course satisfies a requirement for graduation.
