The course provides students with instruction in the fundamental concepts of art and provides students with the opportunity to learn skills to analyze and critique artwork. The course focuses on instruction in the basic elements and principles including: line, value, form, color, shape, texture, space, balance, movement, rhythm, contrast, emphasis, pattern, and unity. Instruction centers on sensory learning to combine visual, aural, textual and kinesthetic experiences. Students are expected to engage in problem-solving strategies and techniques in completing two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects.
