The course is an in-depth survey of the short story, novel, drama, nonfiction, and poetry. Literature study focuses on the understanding of structure and the use of literary terminology. Composition instruction, based on the process approach, provides extensive writing opportunities for a variety of purposes and includes research projects. Students in honors level are expected to develop and demonstrate strong note-taking and analytical skills.
