This ensemble is open to all instrumentalists (band, strings, etc). Instruction focuses on tone, rhythm, balance, independence, and advanced playing techniques. The goal of this course is to practice concert repertoire that challenges the students to further their personal musicianship. This class will include units on concert and small ensemble music, college readiness, auditioning, and solo/honors competitions. Students will have the added commitment of performing in the winter and spring concerts. Students can participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) auditions as well as the IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest. Further opportunities include honor bands at various colleges and universities.  Permission of the instructor is required if the student has not previously been in band.
