Juniors in Sr. Jude Andrew’s sacraments class worked in small groups to read and annotate the Order of Matrimony. They read the prayers of the liturgy, and each small group was assigned a key theme of the sacrament’s theology to annotate with a specific marker color. The groups were then asked to observe what other color or theme their theme was adjacent to. Finally, they had to write a description of their theme on the classroom chalkboard.
As St. Jude Andrew noted “Lex orandi, lex credendi is an old Latin phrase – the Church prays what she believes. Everything the Church teaches about marriage can be found in the prayers of a Catholic wedding, and attentive engagement at a Catholic wedding can teach you a rich and beautiful vision of marriage.”
